Maypop Community Herb Shop opened in March 2011 and is quickly growing and maturing into the shop we want it to be!
In addition to carrying the highest quality medicinal herbs, we are committed to providing a space for people to learn about herbs, health, and wellness. We have a library of some of our favorite herb books so that our customers can relax and research in our sunny front window. We are collectively run by four experienced herbalists who are glad to answer any questions about health, herbs, and our products. When our customers need more time and attention, we can schedule a full health consultation.
Maypop Community Herb Shop strives to help empower our community to support their own health and wellness. We believe that herbal medicine is and always has been the medicine of the people – and that people should have access to this knowledge. We plan to continuously hold classes and provide a space for others to hold classes with these goals in mind.
Many of our herbs are wild harvested by us and fellow herbalists or come from our own gardens. We use herbs that are organically grown in the Greater New Orleans area, and organically farmed or ethically wild harvested throughout the southeast US. We look forward to expanding our locally grown plants, supporting our local farmers and gardeners and continuing to use many plants grown within our bioregion.
